Press Release - Mid-Atlantic Retreat
Instead of the regular weekend college activities of partying till dawn and sleeping till dusk, over 40 students from all across the tri-state area, as well as other parts of the United States, decided to switch things up a bit, gathering on the weekend of February 8th, 2008, at the Arsha Vidya Gurukalam (AVG) in Saylorsburg, Pennsylvania. In addition to cozy living accommodations and home cooked Indian food, students found something at the Gurukalam that weekend that they never expected: they found a sense of self, and a sense of their Hindu identity

Over 30 student leaders from around the nation convened for the three-day meet, with many staying an extra day to visit Orlando's many tourist attractions. The camp began on Friday evening with attendees registering, eating dinner at Giordano's World Famous Chicago Style Pizza, and socializing with each other. The following day started early in the morning with a welcome by HSC President, Nikunj Trivedi; this included an opening prayer and introduction. Press Release - University of Miami HSC Fundraising for a Global Cause
At the University of Miami, steps were first taken by HSC to bring awareness to the student population through screenings of the documentary in campus classrooms, in the apartments of resident masters, as well as the rooms in the University Center. With six screenings shown over only one week, we were able to relay our cause to over 80 students. After watching the documentary, students were in shock about the circumstances that some of these African children face, and they were willing to support us in fundraising for this campaign.
